The smaller accomplishments serve to chart out the gradual milestones that are necessary to achieving more significant and challenging goals. There are many tools available for people who wish to achieve personal development through multiple angles. Most methods focus on incorporating success from a combination of self-discipline, specific goals, challenges, and keeping journals to track success. Most common resources include peer groups, cognitive behavior therapy, meditation, social networking, books, audio books, and interactive instructional programs. When we make an effort to work at improving one specific area in our life the benefits spill over into other areas outside our targeted interests. Challenging ourselves to be a better person is also a holistic approach affecting our quality of living, health, and community. In many cases, tailoring a plan to follow on a daily basis is just the kindling that we need to get out of a stagnant rut. When we have been doing the same thing day in and day out without any real changes, we become accustomed to it and less inclined to feel enthusiastic.

And here’s what is interesting, the difference between success and failure is so subtle. Let me explain by giving you my definitions of failure and success. Here it is: Failure is a few Errors in judgment repeated everyday. Now, here is my definition of success: A few simple Disciplines practiced every day. Do you see the distinction? Here’s a little phrase we’ve all heard, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” And my question to you is, “What if that’s true?” How simple and easy is that plan? The fact is, when you look at successful people, you will almost always discover a plan behind their success. They know what they want, they work out a plan that will get them where they want to go, and they work their plan. It is the foundation for success. We want this first year in our program to be a success for you – a smashing success – and we know that means you will need to have a plan, and then methodically work that plan.

This way you will continually raise your personal development motivation because you will see positive results. Always try to write down the deadline of the goal in your daily planner. You should keep referring to the deadline to keep your mind focused on accomplishing the goal on time. Try to develop a habit of taking action every day towards your goal. This will increase your personal development motivation because you will be proud of yourself by being so pro-active. This, of course, will also gradually lead to the accomplishment of the goal. You should stop doing activities that fail to get you closer to the goal (like watching TV or surfing internet). If you really cannot abandon activities as such, at least try to eliminate them from your life as often as you can. If you are really serious about progressing in life, you should mainly do things that get you closer to your goals and keep away from distractions.

While it may seem that a person’s attitude and their personal development goals and achievements are very different things, for most people they are actually strongly influenced by one another. Without the right mental attitude, achieving anything is an uphill battle that is more difficult than it has to be. Changing a mental attitude for the better is something that can affect all aspects of a person’s life. It can allow one to feel in control of life and give a person the self esteem to make the changes desired. If personal development begins with changing a mental attitude, attitude changing begins by believing that it can be changed. Many people accept a negative attitude as being a normal part of their lives instead of a choice that has been made. It is vital to successfully meeting personal development goals to make the choice to have a positive attitude. With a positive mental attitude, just about anything is possible.
